Infrastructure Engineer / System Programmer (z/OS)
Location: Sweden (preferred) or other Nordic countries
We’re looking for a skilled Infrastructure Engineer / System Programmer (SysProg) to join our mainframe team and help operate and modernise a highly secure, business‑critical z/OS platform.
About the role:
As part of a small, expert mainframe team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the stability, availability, and continuous evolution of our z/OS environment. This role blends deep technical system programming with hands-on operational responsibility and close collaboration across IT and business stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
- Perform system programming, maintenance, and optimisation of z/OS and related subsystems
- Collaborate with domain owners across MQ on z/OS, IMS, and DB2 (depending on your expertise)
- Manage software lifecycle activities, including installation, upgrades, and maintenance using SMP/E
- Investigate incidents, perform problem management, and provide operational support
- Manage certificates, encryption, and security configurations
- Participate in on-call rotation and major infrastructure activities (e.g., datacentre transitions)
- Drive modernisation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Who you are:
- Experienced in IBM z/OS system programming or a senior infrastructure role
- Strong expertise in software maintenance and installation (SMP/E)
- Solid understanding of mainframe security (PKI, certificates, encryption, key management)
- Comfortable in 24/7 high-availability environments
- Structured, proactive, and take ownership of your work
- Thrive both independently and in a collaborative team setting
- Curious, continuously learning, and eager to develop your technical skills
- Calm, analytical, and methodical in high-pressure incident situations
Nice to have:
- Experience with cross-platform integration (z/OS with distributed systems)
- Background in financial services or other regulated industries
- Knowledge of automation, monitoring, and alerting on mainframe platforms
- Familiarity with additional z/OS subsystems or middleware

This is an interim assignment with a start date as soon as possible and until the end of 2026.
