Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Aviation Operations Manager (GAOM) to join our team at Shell Aviation. As the GAOM, you will play a vital role in implementing and driving our Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) strategies and initiatives across our airport operations. As a General Aviation Operations Manager, you will work closely with the wider ops and commercial teams to maximize value derived from Aviation Operations and deliver HSSE and operational excellence for customers at airport locations in Sweden. To ensure that Shell Aviation’s Swedish network of airport locations with fixed facilities and/or Into-plane services managed by Shell are operated in a manner that assures fuel quality in accordance with Group standards and in compliance with HSSE & operational standards. You will be responsible for 8 airport locations in Sweden with third party Superintendents and circa 80 third party ACE trained operators and 10 High risk Maintenance and Service contracts.
As the General Aviation Operations Manager your principal accountabilities will be:
Work with the HSSE team to implement the HSSE&SP-Management System requirements including relevant tools and processes available to manage risk and to create a culture of safety.
As responsible for Into-plane and Maintenance Contracts, manage relationship and contracts in line with Contractor Management procedure supported by the Contract Management Team.
Work with the Compliance team to ensure the audit / inspections are conducted in a timely fashion to identify non-conformances and deliver the gap closure actions. Manage the preventative maintenance plan and ensure processes are in place to perform the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual checks as per the Shell Airport Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
Develop relationships and participate in engagements around HSSE and operations including the emergency services with the Airport Authority at relevant airport locations.
Work with the Competence and Assurance lead to establish a competence development program including timely and successful completion of ACE training modules for all third party operators.
Develop and lead a culture of Continuous Improvement in Operations including embedding of Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, cultivating ‘Just Do It’ initiatives. Execute ‘Go See’ at the front line and lead the regular Structured Superintendent calls.
· Work with engineering team on annual Capex plan and project delivery for Sweden.
Jointly responsible for airport profitability target by working with the Swedish Location Team to optimize each location.
Ensure effective implementation and use of Data Capture Systems, including compliance with International Trade Control policy and procedures.
What you´ll need to succeed
The candidate for this role should possess a personal passion for safety and a deep commitment to driving HSSE improvement. You should have a solid understanding of HSSE methodology and the ability to effectively implement HSSE standards, actively supporting Hearts and Minds initiatives. Additionally, the candidate should be an experienced operation professional with strong people management skills and the drive, communication abilities, and commercial acumen to make a significant impact on the business. You should have a proven track record of implementing industry/sectorial standards and driving compliance. Operational and technical knowledge in the aviation sector, including concession management practices, is highly desirable. Excellent engagement and communication skills are essential, along with demonstrated leadership abilities, both remotely and virtually. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to create and manage effective alliances with key stakeholders. A formal education background in a physical science or engineering discipline is likely preferred. Fluency in Swedish and good English skills, both verbal and written, are required. Knowledge of Finnish would be an additional advantage.
It's important to note that this role will involve significant time spent at airport locations, working with location teams and contract partners to build a strong and engaged community. Up to 30% travel may be required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
