INTERVIEW TIPS

hays_008533.jpgThe interview process allows you to demonstrate that you are the right candidate for the job. An interview is about marketing yourself without bragging, to adapt to the interviewer and to respond concretely the questions posed. The ability to sell yourself and offer relevant experience are just some of the ways you can stand out in today's jobs market

Before your interview

Do your research. The better prepared you are, the more relaxed and comfortable you will be. Being unprepared will be obvious in your body language and tone as well in the answers that you provide.
     Before the interview:
•    It's a good idea to gather information about the company and try to relate your experience to the specific duties of the job available.
•    Anticipate your questions - Prepare some questions and find out what you will be asked and how best to approach answering it.
•    Find out the dress code of the company you are visiting. Call the reception or your contact and ask about it.
•    Plan ahead and practice interviewing - Enlist a friend (better yet, a group of friends and colleagues) to ask you sample questions. Practice making eye contact

During the interview

Do not forget that the first impression is very important! Things to consider:

•    Be on time! Always call and confirm that you are delayed. Remember that you are leaving an impression right from the time you enter the office. Anyone, from the receptionist to the CEO may directly or indirectly affect your success in the process.
•    Be humble, but take the opportunity to sell yourself and show that you are aware of your own value. Remember that everyone has weaknesses as well as strengths. Concretise how you can contribute to company’s development.
•    Answer questions thoughtfully and allow yourself to reflect on what the question really means.
•    Think about your body language. Come across confident and relaxed. We suggest sitting up straight, leaning forward slightly and always maintaining good eye contact with the interviewer or panel. Looking disinterested will not get you the job.
•    Ask the questions you prepared, if they have not already been answered in your conversation.

Remember:
Do not be late!
Turn off your cell phone.
Do not say unfavorable things about your previous employer. Of course you should answer direct questions, but be sure to be diplomatic.
Reflect upon the current position you are applying for, but do not show any hesitation during the interview.

Make sure you have answers to the following questions before you leave the interview:
What responsibilities will I have?
Where is my department in the organizational structure?
Where is my immediate supervisor organizationally?
Who should I report to and people will report to me?
Encouraging the company to further development?
Which customers have now?
Where is the company headed?
What is the hiring process like? What is the next step?

After the interview

Your contact at Hays will call you and hear how you thought the interview went. Your recruitment consultant will be there to help you and take care of all the issues and situations that may occur.
